Blue Mound Golf And Country Club

Blue Mound Golf & Country Club sits in Wauwatosa, a suburb west of Milwaukee, and opened in 1926 as a Seth Raynor design, one of the architect's comparatively rare Midwest layouts. The course is celebrated for Raynor's template holes, including a Redan, Biarritz, Alps, Double Plateau, Road hole, and a Punchbowl at the eighth. Its defining moment came in August 1933, when Blue Mound hosted the PGA Championship, then a match-play event; Gene Sarazen won the title, defeating Willie Goggin 5 and 4 in the final. In the late 1990s, Tom Doak's Renaissance Design, under the supervision of architect Bruce Hepner, restored the course, reviving Raynor's original template features and strategic character.
