Everglades Country Golf Club is a members' club on Marshland Road in Ouruhia, about 20 minutes north of central Christchurch. Established in 1967, it is a nine-hole course bordered on two sides by the Kaputone Stream. The layout is straightforward; the test is threading its tree-lined fairways and hitting its relatively small greens. Eighteen-hole rounds are played over the nine. The club runs a full winter and summer programme of competitive and social golf for men and women, mixes up its playing groups each week so members get to know one another, and starts every club day with a shotgun start so the whole field finishes together.
