About Forest Dale Golf Course
Forest Dale was built in 1906 as the home of the Salt Lake Country Club and is regarded as the oldest golf course in Utah. After the club moved on, Salt Lake City took over the grounds as a public course (sources differ on the year, citing 1924 or 1935). The Deseret News recounts that the city sold it to the LDS Church in 1958 for a planned junior college that never materialized, and bought it back about 12 years later. The nine-hole course was redesigned in 1986 but keeps its small, original table-top greens.
