About Ironwood Golf Course

Ironwood is a public 27-hole facility on rolling ground in Sussex, Wisconsin, at the edge of the Kettle Moraine. Its three nines carry Irish place names: the Callow ("riverside meadow"), with a demanding stretch of wooded holes; the Meath ("middle place"), with a driveable par-4 3rd and two dogleg par 5s; and the Birr ("water place"), where water is in play on seven holes. Listings date it to 1995 and credit Greg Martin with the design, though other sources disagree. The nines pair into three 18-hole rounds of about 6,500 to 6,700 yards from the Black tees.
