About Wyke Green Golf Club
Wyke Green Golf Club in Isleworth, west London, was laid out from 1926 on three former hayfields owned by the Earl of Jersey and opened in 1928 to a design by five-time Open champion J.H. Taylor and F.G. Hawtree. The tree-lined parkland course has hosted Middlesex County Golf Union matches and championships, and its members bought the freehold from the Jersey Estates in 1996. In the late 1960s it was where Jim Howard, newly out of the army, learned his trade as an assistant under club maker Jack Lovelock, playing a couple of rounds with Bob Hope along the way. Howard qualified in 1969 as the PGA's first Black member and went on to 35 years as head professional at Pontypool.
