Amana Colonies Golf Club

Amana Colonies Golf Club opened for play in 1989 within the historic Amana Colonies of east-central Iowa, a cluster of 19th-century communal villages. Architect William J. Spear routed the par-72 layout through roughly 500 acres of stately white oak forest, working with the rolling, wooded terrain rather than against it and weaving holes past meandering streams and ponds. The result is a scenic, demanding course that stretches to about 6,800 yards from the tips, with five sets of tees making it playable for a wide range of skill levels. Consistently ranked among Iowa's top public courses by Golf Digest and Golf Magazine, it remains one of the state's most admired daily-fee destinations and hosts community events such as its long-running Father-Son tournament each season.
