Lake Shore Golf Course

Lake Shore Golf Course sits on roughly 160 acres bordering Lake Taylorville in central Illinois' Christian County, southeast of downstate Taylorville. Plans for an 18-hole course on the lake's southeast shore were approved in September 1967; construction began in 1968, and the course was formally named Lake Shore Golf Course on July 21, 1969. It was designed by William J. Spear. The par-72 layout is owned by the Taylorville Park District and operated by J & D Golf Management, and features bentgrass greens and bluegrass fairways. Set among rolling hills and many mature trees, the scenic course includes several blind shots and watered fairways, offering a genuine test for stronger players while remaining approachable for beginners. Its lakeside setting and public access have made it a longstanding fixture of golf in the Taylorville area.
