Desert Canyon opened in 1993 at Orondo, about 25 miles north of Wenatchee. Jack Frei designed it and helped run it for 12 years. It has gone through financial troubles and ownership changes but remains a leading course in Central Washington, and it has hosted state championships including the 2024 Washington Men's Mid-Amateur.
