About Esmeralda Municipal Golf Course
Esmeralda is a City of Spokane municipal course in northeast Spokane that opened in 1956. It takes its name from the Spokane Athletic Round Table, a local fraternal and charity group whose laughing-horse mascot, Esmeralda, gave its name to the Round Table's 1940s PGA Tour stop, the Esmeralda Open. The Round Table later helped fund the new course. From 1959 to 1963 it hosted the LPGA's Spokane Women's Open. It's a flat, open layout and remains one of the city's four public courses.
