Fox Den opened in Stow around 1966-67, designed by Fred Schmeidel (some listings spell it Frank Schniedel). The City of Stow bought it on February 1, 2006, to keep a well-regarded public course and about 130 acres of green space from going to a developer, and the city's Service Department now runs it.
