About Fox Ridge Golf Club
Fox Ridge traces to 1903, when Newton residents J.W. Murphy, his wife and E.A. Hoag leased 65 acres north of town for the area's first golf course, laid out by Al Musselman. The club closed in 1919, then reorganized as the Newton Country Club in 1920 and moved to a site on Kansas Avenue, where Wichita architect Lorenz Schmidt designed the clubhouse. Today the nine-hole course operates as Fox Ridge with public play; the old clubhouse was torn down in February 2024.
