Lake Shore Country Club

Lake Shore Country Club was founded in 1908 along Chicago's affluent North Shore in Glencoe, Illinois. Its grounds reflect an unusually distinguished design lineage: early planning of the property drew on the Olmsted firm, with Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. involved in shaping the land, and golf-course work attributed to Tom Bendelow in the following years. Around 1918 Donald Ross was engaged to refine the layout, and in later decades the course was revised by Chicago-based architects and given a historically minded restoration by Ron Prichard in the early 2000s. The club has long counted among the North Shore's established private institutions and has hosted regional and national amateur competition over its history. Today Lake Shore endures as a mature parkland course whose evolution mirrors more than a century of American golf-course architecture, from turn-of-the-century routing through classic-era refinement to modern restoration.
