Meadowbrook opened in 1924 as Meadowbrook Country Club north of Dayton, designed by Alex "Nipper" Campbell. For about 90 years it was a private club closely tied to Dayton's Jewish community. When the owner concluded the club could no longer survive, he donated the 18-hole course to the City of Clayton in 2014. The city began running it as a public course in 2015 and has refurbished the clubhouse and pro shop.
