About Merion Golf Club

The East Course opened in 1912, designed by member Hugh Wilson, and has hosted five U.S. Opens (1934, 1950, 1971, 1981, 2013) and a record-tying six U.S. Amateurs. Ben Hogan won the 1950 Open with his iconic 1-iron on the 72nd hole; Bobby Jones completed his 1930 Grand Slam by winning the U.S. Amateur there.
