About Milwaukee Country Club
Milwaukee Country Club traces its roots to 1894, making it one of Wisconsin's oldest clubs. After early golf northeast of the city, the club settled at its present River Hills site along the Milwaukee River around 1911. The celebrated course golfers know today came from the English firm Colt, Alison & Morrison, with C.H. Alison drawing the plans for a layout that opened in 1929. Its classic parkland routing has changed remarkably little; several holes press hard against the river, and the twelfth green and thirteenth hole sit across the water, prone to flooding. Robert Trent Jones Sr. made modest revisions before the 1969 Walker Cup, and Renaissance Golf later restored Alison's original features. The club has hosted marquee amateur events including the 1969 Walker Cup, the 1988 U.S. Senior Amateur, and the 2008 U.S. Mid-Amateur.
