About Oak Brook Golf Club

Oak Brook was established in 1972 by Wilbur Suhre and his son Larry, who built the first nine (now the East Nine) on unwanted floodplain ground near Edwardsville. The West Nine opened in 1974, and Wilbur died in 1976, leaving the course to Larry and Nancy Suhre. After buying the neighboring Wehling Farm in 1996, Larry worked with landscape architect Steve Bopp on the links-style North Nine, which opened in 2000 to make a 27-hole public facility. It is still run by the Suhre family.
