Punta Borinquen's course was built in 1940 on a clifftop promontory at Borinquen Field, the Army airfield at Aguadilla that later became Ramey Air Force Base. A golf course was among the base's early permanent facilities. After the Air Force left in the 1970s, the course became open to the public.
