About Safari Golf Club
Safari Golf Club in Powell first opened for play in 1967, carved from mature forest, and operated as Riverview Golf Course. In 1989 the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium bought it and renamed it Safari Golf Club, and the zoo still owns and operates it as a public course. In 2012 architect Dr. Michael Hurdzan oversaw construction of five new holes. The club became a Certified Monarch Waystation in 2015 and achieved Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary certification in 2018.
