Wild Rock Golf Club at The Wilderness

Wild Rock opened in 2008 at the Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells, designed by the architectural team of Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry, the same duo later credited with Erin Hills. Its defining feature is a former sandstone quarry: the routing is chiseled around and through the old excavation, making it one of comparatively few true quarry courses in the United States. Hurdzan and Fry wove that rugged rock face together with two other distinct landscapes, a wooded stretch threaded by a stream and the sandstone ridges the Dells is famous for, plus former farmland where an iconic red barn still stands. The result blends dramatic elevation changes and long vistas across a single property. Golf Digest recognized it among America's Best New Courses, and the layout stretches over five sets of tees from resort length to championship.
