The Ledges

Perched atop Huntsville Mountain at 1,582 feet, the city's highest point, The Ledges is a private club whose championship course opened in 2000 from the design team of Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry. The mountaintop routing yields sweeping views of the Tennessee Valley, downtown Huntsville, and the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, while playing as a stern test, roughly 74.9 rating and 137 slope from the back tees. The design earned quick acclaim: Golf Magazine named Hurdzan its Designer of the Year in 2003, citing his work here. Wrapped by an upscale residential community, the club pairs demanding, elevation-aware golf with one of north Alabama's most scenic settings and remains a members-and-guests retreat rather than a public daily-fee course.
