About Arcadia Municipal Golf Course

Arcadia Municipal Golf Course, owned by the City of Arcadia in DeSoto County, grew out of early-1910s efforts to attract tourists with a public course. The Arcadia Golf Club hired Harry Cowie to design the 9-hole layout; construction began in fall 1922 with an informal opening on Christmas Day 1922, and all nine holes were completed in 1923. The City added a second nine and renovated the course in 2001. It is on the Florida Historic Golf Trail.
