Conceived in 1962 by Brandon/Valrico businessmen and opened on Labor Day 1968, Buckhorn Springs is the oldest private golf and country club in the Brandon/Valrico area. The site was chosen for its natural springs and elevation reaching roughly 90 feet, among the highest points in Hillsborough County; the course was redesigned by Steve Smyers in 1996.
