About Foster Park Golf Course

Foster Park was Fort Wayne's first public golf course. Brothers Samuel and David Foster donated the park's first 110 acres in 1912; Samuel Foster, called the father of the city's park system, gave 30 more acres in 1926, when course construction began. In 1927 the city issued its first-ever park bonds partly to fund the course, which opened as a nine-holer in 1928 and expanded to 18 holes in the late 1930s. Its 1955 clubhouse survived two fires and major St. Marys River floods in 1982 and 2003.
