Gamble Sands Golf Course

Perched on a sandy bluff above the Columbia River near Brewster in north-central Washington, Gamble Sands opened its Sands Course in 2014 on land owned by the Gebbers farming family. Scottish-born architect David McLay Kidd, already famous for Bandon Dunes, embraced a wide, fun-first philosophy here, routing generous fairways and bold, contoured greens across rolling sand hills with sweeping views of the Cascades and the river valley. Both Golf Digest and GOLF Magazine crowned it Best New Course of 2014, and it quickly became a destination. The resort has since expanded with Kidd's short course Quicksands in 2021 and a second full eighteen, Scarecrow, in 2025. Firm, sandy turf, minimal forced carries, and forgiving angles make the golf approachable for every level while still rewarding thoughtful strategy and creativity around the greens.
