Hidden River Golf & Casting Club was built on a 240-acre site above about a mile of the Maple River, a trout stream. W. Bruce Matthews III of Design 3 routed the 7,220-yard layout, planned with input from Trout Unlimited, the Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council and Michigan's Natural Heritage Program. Construction was underway in 1996, and the course opened in 1998.
