Holmes Park Golf Course opened in 1963 as the second 18-hole municipal course developed by the City of Lincoln, built on land the city purchased near Holmes Lake in southeast Lincoln. It was designed by Oklahoma architect Floyd Farley (ASGCA). The parkland layout of about 6,800 yards and par 72 plays over gently rolling ground with scattered tree-lined fairways and remains part of Lincoln's public golf system.
