About Kickingbird Golf Club
KickingBird Golf Club, owned by the City of Edmond, was designed by Floyd Farley and opened May 29, 1971, making it Edmond's oldest golf course; over 950 rounds were played on opening weekend. The city acquired the land from the Reynolds family, and the name comes from Milton Reynolds, founder of the Edmond Evening Sun, who used "Kickingbird" as his pen name after a friendship with a Kiowa chief of that name. It hosted the Oklahoma Open from 1979 to 1985 and has since been renovated by Bockus Payne.
