Liberty National Golf Club

Liberty National opened on July 4, 2006, the product of nearly a decade and a half of vision, environmental remediation, and construction on reclaimed industrial land along the Hudson River in Jersey City. Designed by Bob Cupp and Tom Kite and developed by former Reebok chairman Paul Fireman and his son Dan at a reported cost around a quarter-billion dollars, the site required extensive dredging and cleanup before a golf course could take shape. The payoff is one of the most dramatic settings in American golf, with holes framed by direct views of the Statue of Liberty and the Lower Manhattan skyline. The course became a fixture on the PGA Tour, hosting multiple editions of the FedEx Cup Playoffs event (The Barclays / The Northern Trust), and staged the 2017 Presidents Cup, where the United States retained the trophy. It also hosted the 2013 Presidents Cup earlier in its run, cementing its role as a modern championship venue.
