Grizzly Ranch opened in 2005 off Highway 70 in Portola, in the Sierra Nevada about 45 minutes from Reno and Truckee. Architect Bob Cupp had more than a thousand acres of rolling, forested terrain to work with, and he laid out a 7,400-yard par 72 within a gated, low-density residential community. The club is semi-private and open to public play, and Golf Digest named it the top public course in the Sierra Nevada in 2014.
