The Classic Club in Palm Desert is an Arnold Palmer design that opened in 2006. A local charitable foundation gave the course to the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in early 2005, which made it the only PGA Tour event that owned its own facility, and the course replaced Indian Wells in the tournament rotation from 2006 through 2008. The plan for it to become the event's permanent home fell through after players complained about the desert winds. The course is planted with pines rather than palms, and about 30 acres of lakes come into play on 14 holes.
