Gillette Ridge Golf Club

Est. 2004 · Arnold Palmer (Palmer Course Design Company)
Why we love this place

We love that a genuine Arnold Palmer signature course sits on a corporate campus yet stays open to everyone. Gillette Ridge serves up big elevation swings, generous fairways and greens with real teeth, plus a dose of Connecticut history in the Gillette name. It's a championship-grade test without a private club gate in sight.

About Gillette Ridge Golf Club

Gillette Ridge was built on the Bloomfield headquarters campus of Cigna, the insurer formerly known as Connecticut General Life Insurance, which still owns the land. Arnold Palmer and his Palmer Course Design Company laid out the course, and it opened to the public on July 30, 2004, as the only public Palmer-designed course in the Northeast, with Arnold Palmer Golf Management running daily operations. The club takes its name from Francis Gillette, a nineteenth-century local reformer, politician and businessman whose house still stands on the property. The par-72 layout stretches past 7,100 yards from the back tees and is known for its rolling terrain, big elevation changes, wide fairways, demanding greens and a generous helping of hazards. From 2005 through 2008 the course hosted the LPGA Futures Tour's Cigna Golf Classic, and it later served as a pre-qualifying site for the PGA Tour's Travelers Championship.
