The VUE

Est. 1969 · Geoffrey Cornish (with Bill Robinson)
Why we love this place

The VUE pairs a full-length Geoffrey Cornish design with the hilltop views its name promises. At nearly 6,900 yards it rewards a confident driver, and its banquet space makes it a natural home for charity days and outings across greater New Haven.

About The VUE

The course at 310 West Shepard Avenue in Hamden opened in 1969 as Laurel View Country Club, a public 18-hole layout designed by Geoffrey S. Cornish, with some listings also crediting his partner Bill Robinson. The par-72 championship course stretches to about 6,924 yards from the back tees. The Town of Hamden owns the property and once ran the course itself, but in 2000 it leased the operation to a private company, and the lease was amended several times over the next two decades. In 2021 the town considered a further amendment under which the operator, Triumph Golf Management, would invest about $300,000 in the clubhouse in exchange for use of the banquet facility and an option to extend the lease through 2041. The course now operates under the name The VUE, and it remains a regular host for charity tournaments, university outings and association golf days.
