Marion Oaks Country Club in Ocala was designed by John Denton -- a par-72 layout with many trees and sand bunkers but no water hazards, serving the Marion Oaks community that the Deltona Corporation began developing in 1972. The club gives an opening year of 1974 (GolfPass lists 1980). Directories have more recently listed it as temporarily closed after conditioning decline following an ownership change.
