Mistwood Golf Club

Mistwood opened in 1998 southwest of Chicago in Romeoville as the work of Michigan architect Ray Hearn. Hearn returned for a multimillion-dollar renovation that reopened in June 2012, adding a set of St. Andrews-style sod-wall bunkers and routing play around a 65-acre lake, with creeks, wetlands and ponds threaded through the layout. The project earned recognition from Golf Magazine as one of the country's top renovations, and the club paired it with an expanded practice campus and performance center featuring climate-controlled stations and launch-monitor teaching technology. Mistwood is also the longtime home of the Illinois Women's Open, now the Phil Kosin Illinois Women's Open, named for the Chicagoland golf editor and publisher who founded the event in 1995. It remains a fixture on the upscale Chicago public-golf scene.
