Pensacola Country Club, founded in 1902, is the oldest private golf club in Florida. The first nine was laid out by two amateur members and a second nine was added in 1925, built in a Donald Ross-influenced style though the club does not claim a Ross design. After Hurricane Ivan submerged the course in salt water in 2004, former U.S. Open champion Jerry Pate oversaw a complete redesign.
