Prairie Green Golf Course

Prairie Green is one of the City of Sioux Falls' municipal courses, a Dick Nugent design built in 1994 and opened for play in 1995. Nugent used the rolling prairie edge of the growing city to good effect, weaving water and wetlands into roughly a dozen holes and shaping subtle elevation changes that are relatively uncommon across this stretch of the northern plains. From four sets of tees the course stretches from about 5,245 yards up to a muscular 7,179 yards at par 72, so it can flex from an approachable municipal round to a genuine championship test. The design drew early national notice, earning recognition among Golf Digest's Best New Affordable Public Courses in 1996, and it remains a value-minded favorite for local players and traveling golfers alike.
