Salish Cliffs Golf Club

Salish Cliffs Golf Club opened to the public in September 2011 as the centerpiece of the Squaxin Island Tribe's Little Creek Casino Resort in Kamilche, about twenty minutes northwest of Olympia. Development began around 2006, and the Tribe invested heavily in letting architect Gene Bates route a par-72 course through the forested Kamilche Valley. Playing to roughly 7,269 yards from the championship tees, the layout moves across some 600 feet of elevation change, framed by exposed rock faces, evergreen timber, and long views over Skookum Creek. The course carries deep cultural meaning: its name references a Squaxin legend of a young woman who leapt from island cliffs and became a red-tailed hawk. Salish Cliffs is also recognized as the first Salmon-Safe certified golf course, reflecting a design and maintenance program built around protecting the surrounding watershed.
