Squaw Creek dates to the early 1920s (the club gives 1922, and a 2001 local account says the course opened in 1925). Canadian architect Stanley Thompson designed the original nine, now the inside nine. It is one of the three championship courses of the Avalon Golf & Country Club group in the Youngstown-Warren area.
