Stonewater Golf Club

StoneWater opened in 1996 in Highland Heights, a Cleveland suburb, from the design team of Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry. Routed across roughly 178 acres, the course leans hard on water: sixteen of its eighteen holes carry a hazard, requiring more than twenty wooden bridges to move players around the property, and pairs those challenges with generous, links-influenced fairways and native grasses. Its highest-profile moment came on the developmental circuit. From 2005 to 2007 StoneWater hosted the Legend Financial Group Classic on the Nationwide Tour, and in 2007 a nineteen-year-old Jason Day captured the title, his first professional win and, at the time, the youngest victory in that tour's history. Day went on to a major championship and the world number-one ranking, giving this public layout a lasting place in the game's story.
