The course grew up with the Surrey Hills housing development in Yukon, west of Oklahoma City, founded in the 1960s. Once a private club, it declined through the 1970s and 1980s and eventually closed. In 1999 developers CCDC Inc. (Michael Love, Joe Love and Claud Cypert) rehabilitated it and reopened it to the public, sold it in 2005, then later repurchased and renovated it with new bunkers, a pond and a widened creek, rebranding it The Golf Club at Surrey Hills.
