Kenosha acquired much of the land for Washington Park in 1915. Construction of the nine-hole, 71-acre municipal course and a small rustic clubhouse began in 1922. The current Tudor Revival clubhouse, designed by Hugo Bothe and built partly as a Works Progress Administration project, opened in May 1937 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.
