Des Moines Golf And Country Club

Des Moines Golf and Country Club dates its founding to 1897, but its present home in West Des Moines, Iowa, took shape after Interstate 235 cut through the club's earlier property in the 1960s. Members voted to relocate, and the club moved to a rolling site in Dallas County, opening a Pete Dye-designed North Course in 1968 and a South Course the following year, an unusual 36-hole Dye complex. Dye and associate Tim Liddy renovated all 36 holes in the mid-2010s in preparation for a major international event. In August 2017, the club hosted the Solheim Cup, the biennial team match between the best women professionals of the United States and Europe, using a composite course drawn from nine holes of each layout. The United States won a memorable contest before large Midwestern galleries, giving the club a signature moment on the global stage.
