About Dubsdread Golf Course

Dubsdread began in 1923 when Orlando builder Carl Dann Sr. developed the Golf View Heights subdivision around a new course. Chicago architect Thomas Bendelow drew the design, and it opened to the public in December 1924 — the name refers to the dread it was meant to instill in novice "dubs." The Dann family owned it until the City of Orlando bought it in 1978; it is now a municipal course, renovated in 2008.
