About Furman University Golf Course
The Furman University Golf Course sits on the university's campus near Travelers Rest and was built in the late 1950s, when few colleges had an on-campus course. Per Furman Athletics, it was designed by Richard K. Webel of Long Island, N.Y., and Walter Cosby, grounds and greens superintendent at The Greenbrier. It has hosted the Furman Intercollegiate and Lady Paladin Invitational since the 1970s and helped develop players such as Brad Faxon, Betsy King and Beth Daniel.
