Interlachen Country Club

Interlachen Country Club in Winter Park, near Orlando, took its name from the lakes that surround the property and opened for play in 1985 after being founded a couple of years earlier. The original course was designed by Joe Lee, who reportedly moved more than 1.5 million cubic yards of earth across the roughly 270-acre site to excavate lakes and build contour into what had been flat central Florida ground. Playing to a par of 72 and stretching beyond 7,200 yards from the back tees, it anchors a private residential club community. In 2007, architect Steve Smyers carried out a redesign that built on Lee's original concept while accentuating the natural surroundings. This Winter Park club is a distinct facility and should not be confused with the historic Donald Ross-designed Interlachen near Minneapolis, Minnesota.
