About Lookout Mountain Golf Club

Lookout Mountain Golf Club opened in 1989 beside the Tapatio Cliffs resort, which developer Bob Gosnell built on a reclaimed rock quarry. The resort first sought to make the site TPC Phoenix, a proposed home for the Phoenix Open, but lost that fight; Phoenix architect and former PGA Tour player Bill Johnston then bowed to environmental concerns and routed a desert-mountain layout on assembled state, city and private parcels. It hosted the PGA Tour Champions MONY Arizona Senior Classic in its first year, won by Bruce Crampton, and later NBC's Skills Challenge.
