About Meadowlark Hills Golf Course
Meadowlark Hills is Kearney's only 18-hole public golf course, established in 1993 and operated by the City of Kearney. Designed by David Gill and Steven Halburg, the layout sits atop bluffs overlooking the scenic Platte River Valley and plays to a par of 71 for men and 72 for women, reaching about 6,588 yards from the black tees. Water hazards, well-placed sand bunkers and mature fairways give the course teeth without overwhelming everyday players, and new chipping and bunker practice areas added in 2022-23 rounded out the facility. Meadowlark has built a strong competitive resume, hosting the NSAA Boys State Golf Championships several times and the Nebraska Junior Amateur, with an NCAA Division II women's regional set for 2027. GolfPass golfers ranked it among the country's top public courses in their 2024 Golfers' Choice list.
