Nemacolin Woodlands Resort

Mystic Rock, the Pete Dye showpiece at Nemacolin in the Laurel Highlands of Farmington, opened in 1995 and stands among the most distinctive courses Dye ever built. Much of the layout was literally blasted from the region's rock, leaving fields of boulders scattered through the rough and water hazards bulkheaded with stacked stone. Dye gave the course his signature look of largely oval greens and rectangular bunkering, demanding precision from tee to green. Ahead of professional play he toughened the course in 2005, and it now stretches past 7,500 yards. Mystic Rock hosted the PGA Tour's 84 Lumber Classic from 2003 through 2006, testing the game's best against its rugged mountain terrain. The resort has since added a second Dye course, but Mystic Rock remains its championship centerpiece.
