About Rouge Park Golf Course

Rouge Park Golf Course is a public course operated by GolfDetroit.org in partnership with the City of Detroit Recreation Department, built within Detroit's large Rouge Park on the city's west side. Its first nine holes opened in 1928 and the second nine in 1929. Despite research by WDET with city archivists and golf historians, the original designer remains undocumented, and a common attribution to Donald Ross is unverified. The Rouge River comes into play on several holes, and its Director of Golf Operations, Karen Peek, was the first Black member of the Michigan LPGA.
