About Rackham Golf Course

Rackham is a municipal course owned by the City of Detroit though located in Huntington Woods. In 1923 philanthropists Horace and Mary Rackham bought roughly 150 acres and donated the completed Donald Ross-designed course and clubhouse to the City of Detroit in 1924, stipulating it be kept exclusively as a public course; it opened to the public on May 19, 1925. The Ross layout, known for small, well-bunkered greens, has been ranked among Ross's best public courses. The Arts and Crafts clubhouse features Pewabic Pottery tilework.
